Gratitude and Affirmations: Relationships

As addicts, we often feel  awkward  and inadequatewhen it comes to relationships. The problem is that when we focus on our own perceived insufficiencies, we draw back from trying to connect with others at all. This leads to more feelings of inadequacy, and the cycle continues. Have you ever been there? Next time you’re starting to run in this hamster-wheel of shame, try out some of these affirmations and ideas for your gratitude journal.

I am greatful for…

-a teacher/mentor who gave me hope and acceptance

-a person or animal who has modeled unconditional love

-a time when I really connected with someone in a healthy way

-a time when I had healthy fun with others

-a time when I was a good listener or helped someone else unselfishly

-a partner or friend who knows about my disease and is sticking with me

-I am lovable

-I am worthy of respect

-I am capable of being a good friend

-I choose to have healthy boundaries

-I am brave enough to ask for help

-I am enough
